Hey guys,
Long story short: I've "buit" a bootable Win7 USB drive (using WinPE_SE and the "copy to usb" script included) with a bunch of tools for work and it got popular enough so that my colleagues want the thing on their USB thumb drives too. I have found a tool that let me create an "IMG" image of my thumb drive so I can copy it on other thumb drives and it work great. My problem, unless I'm missing something, is that the IMG format is "fixed", meaning that if I make a copy of a 8G thumb drive, I need to copy it to another 8G unless I'm ready to loose all that free space over 8G. Inversely, I cannot copy the IMG image to a smaller thumb drive even if the 8G image is 75% "free space". I'm under the impression that the "IMG" format is the only one that permits me to copy everything including -most importantly- the boot sector/loader/whatever. Am I wrong? My ultimate goal is to make it easy for my colleagues to grab the bootable image and copy it to their drives without loosing the remaining free space on their thumb drives. I know that the ISO format won't let me grab everything (IE:the bootable part), So is the IMG format my only option? Thanks for any tips you guys can give me about this.
