Hello,
WinAOE Server is like iscsi, but i think is better because it broadcast the targets to the network (LAN), and the configuration is more simple to mount , its suporte .img , .iso and .vhd images !
You can use WinAOE Driver to boot many flavors of Windows Operating Systems entirely on Diskless Machines.
The WinAOE Driver from Coraid Systems on readme file of the package said that only work for:
Diskless AoE Driver for:
Windows 2000
Windows XP
Windows XP 64bit
Windows 2003
Windows 2003 64bit
Windows 2003R2 *
Windows 2003R2 64bit *
Windows Vista
Windows Vista 64bit *
But the Driver can be installed on Windows 7 , Windows 8 and 2008 systems !!! :D
With a little procedure you can do it.
Step 1 - To driver be loaded we should disable the Integrity checks for sign certification of drivers.
In Windows open a cmd ( command prompt ) and type
Step 2 - reboot Windows ( mandatory )
Step 3 - Download the driver here, because this version is self signed : winaoe.zip
Step 4 - Uncompress file into a folder
Step 5 - Go to Start Button -> Run --> type 'hdwwiz.cpl'
Step 6 - Install driver with type Storage Adapter.
